Hello 🌍 I did a mix on 1020 radio for International Women’s Day this year. My song choices were either a celebration of female genius, or they were songs that reminded me of my female friends, memories that have since been imprinted on my brain and live there completely rent free. This world is a better place because of these women, artists and friends alike. Take a listen on my Mixcloud, using the link above or clicking here. X
Special new demo track ‘WISH’ for DEEP COVER’s MAYDAY Compilation:
MAYDAY
I was so sad not to be celebrating the start of May in the annual swarm of zombies and vicars, but so happy to keep the fire burning with DEEP COVER’s latest compilation ‘MAYDAY’. Barnabas Poffley and I made a short bonus track called ‘Wish’ a cover of Angie Stone’s I Wish I Didn’t Miss You. Rather than listening to the choristers singing from the top of Magdalene College spire, I enjoyed May Day from bed this year, listening to these bangers: 'MAYDAY' - Deep Cover’s new compilation project available now. https://linktr.ee/deepcoveruk
Deep Cover’s Statement:
For Oxford residents, Mayday (May 1st) is an ancient ritual marking the arrival of spring, and the one guaranteed all night party in the calendar. It's a simple formula: make it to Magdalen bridge in time for dawn.
At the city's intersection, ravers from The Bullingdon in East Oxford finally reunite with those who chose to spend the night in one of the city's other legendary nightspots... The Cellar [Oxford], Carbon, The Coven ... (RIP).
Roads are closed as bizarre strung out characters flood the streets, kids sing to crowds of over 15,000 from 44 metres above as the sun rises and celebrations resume - last night's wave spilling into May morning and beyond.
For the first time in recent history, we in Oxford won't be celebrating together this Mayday. So to mark the madness that never was, we've rallied the local scene to give the rest of you a glimpse into our world... and we couldn't have asked for a more sick collection of tunes for the occasion.
True to form, we've sequenced MAYDAY to recreate the disorientating progression from the dark freakish depths of the night before, through till dawn and into the morning after. If the night before isn't your thing - feel free to join us at track 8 as the sun comes up.
Deep Cover is proud to present this 14 track introduction to just some of the incredible artists from the Oxford area. Get stuck in and help support our scene at one of its times of greatest need. All profits from this release will be divided equally between the artists involved.
